Privacy policy

Effective date: September 3, 2026 · Publisher: CPW Studio Co (registered DBA)

This policy describes Jot & Pin version 1.1.0 distributed through the Microsoft Store.

1. Local-only workspace

Jot & Pin stores notes, notebooks, categories, tags, checklists, reminders, people labels entered by the user, drawings, version history, preferences, imported content, images, and attachments under the user’s Windows account. This release does not offer account creation or account synchronization and does not transmit note content to CPW Studio Co. The live workspace is normally stored under %APPDATA%\Jot & Pin.

2. Data the app accesses

Jot & Pin accesses local files only to perform an action the user requests, such as attaching or opening a file, importing a supported notes export or database, exporting a backup, or writing a backup to a selected folder. Microsoft Sticky Notes discovery examines the current Windows user’s local Sticky Notes data only after the user starts that import. Imports are processed locally and source files are not changed.

If the user starts voice dictation, Windows or the Chromium speech component may process microphone input under the applicable Microsoft or operating-system privacy settings. CPW Studio Co does not receive the recording through Jot & Pin.

3. Sharing, exports, and third-party folders

When a user shares a note, opens a link, exports a backup, or chooses a folder managed by OneDrive, Google Drive, a network provider, email program, or another app, that destination processes the selected content under its own privacy terms. Jot & Pin does not send content to those destinations without the user’s action. Exported JSON backups and ordinary attachments are portable files, not encrypted vaults.

4. Deletion and retention

Deleting a note moves it to Trash until the user permanently deletes it. Local version history and rotating safety backups may retain an earlier copy until the applicable backup limit is reached. Uninstalling does not automatically erase %APPDATA%\Jot & Pin, which reduces accidental note loss during reinstall or update. To remove all remaining local data, delete that folder after closing and uninstalling the app. Files exported elsewhere must be removed separately.

5. Locked notes and security

On Windows, locked notes use the Jot & Pin PIN. The app stores a salted PBKDF2 hash rather than the PIN itself. The note lock is an in-app access control; it is not full-disk encryption and does not encrypt exported backups.

6. Advertising, analytics, and sale of data

Version 1.1.0 contains no advertising SDK, behavioral analytics SDK, or data broker integration. CPW Studio Co does not sell or share note content because this release does not receive it.

7. Microsoft Store and support

Microsoft may process purchase, licensing, installation, update, device, and technical delivery data under Microsoft’s own terms and privacy statement. Jot & Pin does not receive the customer’s Microsoft account password or payment-card information. If a user contacts support, CPW Studio Co processes the address and information the user chooses to send to answer the request and investigate defects. Users should remove private note content and should not send passwords, tokens, signing keys, or identity documents.

8. Children

Jot & Pin is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. It contains no child-directed content, social networking, advertising, or public content sharing.

9. Future features and changes

If a future release offers account synchronization or another service that changes data handling, CPW Studio Co will update this policy and Store disclosures before activating it. Material changes will carry a revised effective date.
